I posted this question on the full game page but am posting here too.

Is the itch version fully up to date like the Steam version?

Hello?

?

FYI the full version is here: https://pqubegames.itch.io/aggelos

(+1)

The game is amazing, high gameplay and with amazing effects. I just don't talk anymore because I'm going to play again

Note: please add the option to choose the buttons because moving with ESDF is fucking.

(-3)

If there is no version for itch.io or GOG, forget about me buying it, I'll NEVER, listen to me, NEVER gonna buy it on Steam or any Pro-DRM plataform.
Good luck.

(-2)

so I pirate it

(-1)

im not going to suport this cheat full version what is wrong with you

I'm having the same gitch with the monkey. Any expected date on the fix? Really enjoying the game.

Is the full version not available from itch.io ?

The latest update of Aggelos is a problem, as we have noticed. We take into account all your comments and work on a patch that will arrive in the coming days. Thank you for your support and sorry for the inconvenience.

Created an account just to say that I am also stuck at the monkey part on the Nintendo Switch. I received a review copy of the game but I cannot progress past this part to finish the game. Will there be an update to fix this issue?  I've tried closing the game and reloading to see if that fixed the issue, but it hasn't.

Ditto. Action needs to be taken.

Monkey glitch big time annoying!!! That + some sword arts trials make a 5 star game a 1 star...

I seem to have discovered a glitch in the Switch version of Aggelos: I'm at the part where I play as the monkey so that I could get the key to the wind temple, but for some reason, I am unable to jump. No matter what buttons I press, I can't jump and reach the pole in the first cave of Fira Village, and now I'm unable to progress through the game.  Am I missing something here?

same thing has happened to me. I can not jump and progress as the monkey.

Same here, stuck as the monkey. Tried reloading my save but that didn't fix the issue.

I have tried that as well as using one controller separate, I think it may work with a wired controller.

I'm mostly posting my review based on the Nintendo Switch version, but I presume the game-play is exactly the same.

It's always nice to see new Wonderboy-ish games being released, but I am slightly disappointed in this game. Its described as taking "directly from the 16 bit era", but sadly, the only thing taken from that era is the amount of colors on the screen. All the rest feels like 8-bit NES or Sega Master System instead. I haven't gotten that far into the game but the music sounds repetitive already, and most sprites appear to only have 3 frames at best.

I will probably still enjoy the game, but based on what it is, a 8-bit Wonderboy clone, and not what it appears to be boasting about (16-bit).

tl;dr
Stupid swede reviewing a game game 35 minutes in...

I stumbled across this game while browsing the indie section on Steam and bought it out of pure curiosity. I figured it was going to be another one of those indie games where the devs mostly boast their oldschool graphics and sound. Meanwhile the game is left with sub par gameplay and lacks substance.

But, to my surprise this game was actually a lot of fun, and kept me busy. I've put about 20 hours into it, and that's just my first playthrough. The game is paced very well, and the feeling of getting stronger keeps the game from going stale. It was just straight up fun getting new weapons and armor, or finding more health and magic containers.

I see some other comments talking about not knowing where to go, and I simply don't understand. I never had any trouble finding out where to go. I feel like from the dialogue or just exploring, it's made very clear. I was able to play the whole game from start to finish without help from the internet, which is good thing because I don't think there were any walkthroughs when I finished the game last week.

Oh yeah, the soundtrack. Good god, dat soundtrack. A few times, I just had to stop and take in the music

Nope, I have just completed earth templ and got the earth power, no fireball or anything.  No idea where to go, seer states something under library in a village, but that village isn't on the very vague map.  No clue of where to go, been over whole map from house back to wall.  Anyways, I have moved on from this game now.

You must just not be very good at these kind of games then!
Every day I play it I get farther. It has been pretty easy up till now but the portal opened and a bunch of baddies came out,
now it's fuckin' hard as Hell! I may end up having to cheat cuz I hate when a game I love suddenly becomes too difficult!

Since last message I typed here, I have unlocked many new abilities and levels. If you are really stuck, there is an entire walkthru video
now up on YOUTUBE. It will answer every single question you have! Good luck!

Thanks.  Done the Earth Temple and got  the ring.  Left temple went left and used power to go up glowing stars to a signpost which points left to "The Wall" and right to bosco forest.  In that "The Wall" area there is a well, down which is three doors with shapes (star, sun, moon), and three shops one of which you can buy a sword (masamune).  Then there is an exit in the background with an arrow above it which leads to a greyer area with two tree stumps and with a high jump on first screen.  There doesn't appear to be anywhere else to go, have been right back to the start and gone through each map.

Okay. I assume you're playing the full game, I don't think the demo has this part. I know exactly where you are!
Have you got the fireball teleport thing yet?
Once you get it, you have to go back and go through all the areas that were blocked by the two bars before.
You will find a room where a dragon gives you tasks to complete.
I am stuck here!
I'm not stuck because I don't know what to do, I'm stuck because the difficulty suddenly rose astronomically!
It's hard as fuck! I can get through the first task and the one where you have to go to bubble form and float around catching the gems.
After that, you have to complete a section without using special weapons and it's just fuckin' frustrating as all Hell!
You hold down and bounce across the bad guys, then you have to do the double jump/sword up thing as well and it becomes a tedious
chore! I'll eventually get through it though!

The thing about this game is, you can get to many places but if you don't have the special abilities, you can't explore those places in full.
For underwater, you need the bubble transform so you can go to the top and find various items. For many places with the two silver bars
blocking your path, you need the fire teleport. Also, the big tall wall that is made of "very dry wood" can be burned down with a fireball.
Of course, I assume you have the double jump/upward sword swing. That allows you to get to some high places you couldn't get to
before as well. I hope this helps!

I love how this game links all the areas together with secret passageways that can be navigated once you get power-ups as well!
It's just how WBIMW is! This game is really ending up being one of my most favorite games of the year!
I have been waiting for MONSTER BOY but the devs have taken too long and have become sidetracked on everything but the
actual game it's self it seems - Hyping it up for consoles/ignoring PC users/etc. I hope it's good but I'm sick of waiting!
AGGELOS is better than THE DRAGON'S TRAP remake as well! It's a better game all around and that's really saying something,
considering DRAGON'S TRAP is a 1:1 remake of the original but with new graphics and a few tweaked elements.

I was never a huge DT fan anyhow, I love Wonderboy (Arcade original), Wonderboy in Monsterland (SMS,C=64,ETC.) and
Wonderboy in Monster World. I also love Wonderboy IV (I think?) which is the one where you're a girl. That game rocks!
It's a great time to be a WONDERBOY fan! There's even another game, WONDERBOY RETURNS, which I have but it's just average.
AGGELOS is turning out to be one of my favorites!!!

I WISH THE DEVS WOULD SELL IT ON ITCH.IO THOUGH!!!

You can't access the upper level of the library from the inside. You need to enter through a window on the roof. Generally if the game is too hard it's because you don't have the right equipment for it. Going in the Volcano area without the dragon sword and the armor, you'll get pulverized in no time. There are three hints for the dragon sword: one is near the save point, the others are further down on your way to the fire temple. You need to speak to one of the monkeys to  know the path to out of the labyrinth in the volcano.

Thank you for your response, unfortunately it doesn't answer my question.  I do not have 2 days to spend on getting stuck at a point.  Hence why I request a tip sheet or walkthrough.  What I am talking about is not even a puzzle, for instance, got the earth ring and used that to get to The Wall.  I have nowhere to progress to, been over the whole map 3-4 times, locked doors in well, no jump ability to progress through the wall, so I have given up.

Note I have no idea why this reply to @MENTD does not appear under his reply?

NCR - U talking about the DEMO or the FULL GAME? If you don't have the time to play then I don't know what to say,
most of us want games to be as long as possible and take up many days!
Personally, part of the thing I love about games like AGGELOS is that I can play for a few hours every day.
When I get stuck, I put it down and come back later.
If the game is good enough to keep going back to, as Aggelos is, eventually I figure it out and when I do, it makes my day!
ANYHOW tell me if you're playing the DEMO or FULL GAME and explain specifically & exactly where you are and I will be glad to help.
The only issue I have with this "forum" is it reformats my text.

It seems that as soon as devs get onto STEAM, they totally ignore other mediums. I don't like that and I don't
like STEAM. This place is dead now during the time it should be the most active! But no one on ITCH.IO can even
purchase the game from ITCH.IO now! Not cool to ITCH.IO or it's users. I will never use STEAM.

(1 edit) (+1)

Greetings! I love this game but I think it's unfair that ITCH.IO has
been ignored in favor of STEAM.
ITCH.IO is what put this game on the map and generated all the
hype over it. It's where I initially found out about it.
Its where I downloaded the DEMO from.

Now the game has been released but they have totally forgotten
about ITCH.IO, I can't believe it's still not available here.
What gives?

NEWS: Support us on STEAM! <<<----- NO! I support you on ITCH.
Don't abandon ITCH.IO, release the game here already!

Hi, I am liking this game.  One thing though, is there or could there be a walkthrough/tip sheet.  Its very frustrating to get stuck and not be able to find any information at all.  The list for instance, took ages to work out to hit them with sword.  And after doing Earth, got to the wall, no idea how to progress.  Made me give up.  Oh and the cryptic clue from the seer doesn't help, I can't even see the village mentioned on the map.

I think the game is perfectly balanced! I love it when a puzzle has me stumped
for a few days and then, I finally figure it out! On the full release of AGGELOS,
this happened to me when I didn't know how to get past a wall but I had to
throw a magic ball at the lower one and hit the upper one with my sword,
then the wall came down. It was so much fun finally discovering that!
If I had simply read a cheat sheet, it would have erased the fun of trying to
figure it out by myself and then finally getting it!

Wonderboy-bobi/STORYBIRD - This game rocks!
I've been playing the demo for the last few days on Linux using WINE.
Do you ever plan on doing a Linux port?
Wonderboy is one of my most favorite series and this game has got
all of what I love about it! The only issue I have is that I think I'm
about to win the DEMO and then I won't be able to have any more fun
with it till the full game is released. 8)

What is the final game's eta?
I read an old text where FEBUARY 2017 was given as a possible
release time but obviously, that time has passed.

I don't use STEAM or support DRM.
Will AGGELOS be available to purchase from ITCH.IO when complete?
I hope so!!!

The game is awesome, great job!
Very anxious to play the final full version! 8)

Thank you MENTD!

Yes the game development is finished and will be released really soon :)

(1 edit)

Awesome! So will it be available here on ITCH.IO ?
I hope so because I do not use STEAM!

I've been looking forward to MONSTERBOY & THE CURSED KINGDOM
for years now but they are taking forever and ever and have not released
any playable demos or anything yet.
I found AGGELOS searching through ITCH.IO's platformer/metroidvania section.
I had heard nothing about it yet it has become one of my most anticipated titles!
Of course, I've already won the demo so I am ready for the full game asap!!! 8)
I think AGGELOS is awesome and feels exactly how a WONDERBOY game should feel!
My favorite WONDERBOY game is Wonderboy in Monster World.
AGGELOS feels very much like an extension of that game but with all the problems fixed,
I think the control is even better! I also love WONDERBOY IV and AGGELOS seems to
have taken from that as well! I hope the game can be purchased, DRM free, on ITCH.IO!

Hey there... Any progress on the game? I really loved the demo.

https://www.egx.net/rezzed/2018/show-floor ;)

Some BIG NEWS.

OOOH!

Exciting!

Did you finish this game?

I gave the demo of Aggelos a short run on my weekly indie game series Games and CHiLL. I enjoyed it! Very solid mechanics and it feels great to control! Looking forward to seeing a full release!

I couldn't find a way to rebind the controls on keyboard. PLEASE add a way to do this—ESDF to move and IO to attack and jump feels unnatural for most people.

It's a very good game i want to spend lot of time on it !!!!!!

fantastic game

I enjoyed a lot. A promising metroidvania.

Its like a 2-D Legend of Zelda

Hmm odd i press enter but when i get to the first dialogue i cant do anything.. Please help cause id love to try this

Same thing happened to me I got it to work going and fiddleing in options before starting the main game. :) :P

Please inform us when your game is finished. I'd love to play it!

Love the combat and art style!

This game looks great, you seem to be doing great work!

Is there any more news on Eon, though? I love SOTB and really want to see this game finished!

Thanks, Eon is one of the most important project to me. But I need my society to grow up before :/

Well I'm glad you haven't dropped it completely, and I really look forward to it in the future. :)

Great game! I downloaded the demo to do a Let's Play on my YouTube channel, and I'm very impressed by what I played! I would love to do a series on the completed game, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one! Keep it up! :D

This is a fun game. Cannot wait to play the next update. Keep it up.

FIRE PORTALS FAIL SOMETIMES BUT I REALLY LIKE THIS GAME

[Long Comment Warning]

I downloaded this game only yesterday, but I'm already liking it a lot! The level design is nice, the puzzles aren't too ridiculous (so far), and the game is challenging, but FAIR, which I really appreciate. It shares some similarities to Shovel Knight, but I suppose it's inevitable that the two will be compared. This isn't a bad thing, however! I do have some suggestions though, most of which have already been touched on by a few commenters below:

- As retsmuga said, the Living Fireballs are a bit of a pain to deal with, especially in tight hallways. As he also said, an indicator for being underwater would be a nice touch. Something as simple as a little air bubble around the player would probably suffice.

- A better method for executing the Dash attack would be very much appreciated. I think that the double tap thing just leaves too much room for error which could potentially REALLY screw someone over just because they didn't get the command perfect. I would suggest maybe just having it so that you hold in the direction that you want to dash, then perhaps double tap the attack button? Or maybe as tboctavan suggested, have a button dedicated only to the Dash. I feel as if that would be a bit more intuitive to use.

- Similarly, I think that the Mole Attack could use some tweaking as well. Again, comparing it to Shovel Knight, it would "feel" better if instead of having to re-execute the attack every time you land a hit on a monster or destructible piece of environment, it would only reset when you hit the ground.

Other than those few things, I didn't have any real issues with this game. It's well put together, it's challenging but fair, the graphics look very nice and definitely have the NES vibe, and is just a nice game overall. Great work to all the folks involved in putting this game together, and I can't wait to see the full version!

Thanks for this developped comment. It's a good idea to indicate the fact you can't fireball underwater, I will do something.

We had many feedback about the dash excution and arrange this also. And for the mole attack you'll just have to let down plus button pressed to keep doing it in the final version:)

Awesome, I'm really glad to hear that! Thanks for reading everyone's comments and considering their feedback, this game really deserves to be the best it can possibly be. Again, I can't wait to play the full version

Good game. But, a suggestion: a dedicated button for dashing instead of a double tap. Not everyone who plays has the dexterity to pull that off. Myself, having cerebral palsy, lack the nimbleness in my fingers that this maneuver calls for (even on a joypad). I know I am one of many, but I feel like no one ever considers something like this when they make a game double tap to dash or "MASH X TO WIN" type QTEs.

Here is a video I made on the game!

Started playing through the game, wasn't impressed at first, but it's growing on me. I've only just begun discovering the extra abilities, NPC's charm, and fantastic environments, and this game seriously packs a punch.

Great work everybody! I look forward to the full release~

had a hard time learning the controls.

After a bit of trial and error I learned that sdf is for movement and o for jump, i for attack. O_o
